Heads up: Pot Together is currently a prototype with simulated balances. Real-money payouts require regulatory licensing in your jurisdiction (e.g. e-money or payment institution status). This page is a plain-English summary, not legal advice.

Effective May 2026

Terms & safety

The short version, then the long version. Read both — it's quick.

The TL;DR

  • Money you add to a pot is locked in. The only way out is the equal split at the end — or a full refund if you're the only contributor.
  • We take a flat 2% platform fee from every payout. No other fees, ever.
  • Pot creators don't control the money. Payouts are automatic and split equally between all contributors.
  • Private pots are protected by a password you set. Share it carefully.
  • No gambling, no coercion, no illegal use. We close pots that break the rules.
  • You must be 18+ and legally allowed to send and receive funds where you live.
Privacy & data handling

What we collect, why, and your rights — covered separately.

1. What Pot Together is

Pot Together is a group savings tool. Anyone can create a "pot" with a name, currency, and duration (1 week to 6 months). Other people contribute any amount. When the timer ends, the total is split equally between everyone who put money in — minus our 2% platform fee. That's the entire product.

2. Phase 1 — simulated balances

Right now Pot Together runs on simulated balances so we can test mechanics, design, and behaviour. No real money moves through the platform yet. Real-money payouts via Stripe Connect are planned for Phase 2 and will require additional onboarding (identity verification, bank details, tax info) and regulatory licensing in your jurisdiction.

3. Contributions are final

Once you add money to a pot, it cannot be withdrawn, cancelled, or refunded by you, by the creator, or by us — except in the solo-refund scenario described below. Make sure you mean it before you contribute.

4. Solo refund

If the timer ends and you are the only contributor in the pot, the full amount is refunded to you automatically. No platform fee is taken in that case.

5. Equal payout & 2% fee

At close, the pot total is reduced by a 2% platform fee, then divided equally between every contributor — regardless of how much each person added. The fee figure is shown to you before you contribute.

6. Pot creators have no control

Creating a pot does not give you any privileged access to the funds. You cannot pause, cancel, edit, or withdraw the pot. The duration you chose at creation is binding.

7. Private pots

Private pots require a password to join. Treat the password like a key — anyone you share it with can contribute. We can't reset, recover, or override pot passwords.

8. Acceptable use

Don't use Pot Together for: gambling, prize draws, lotteries, fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions evasion, harassment, hate speech, or anything illegal where you live or where contributors live. We may close pots and suspend accounts that breach these rules. Funds in closed pots will be returned to contributors where lawfully possible.

9. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old. You must have the legal capacity and authority to send and receive funds in your jurisdiction. You are responsible for any tax owed on payouts you receive.

10. No financial advice

Pot Together is not a bank, broker, investment platform, custodian, or financial advisor. Pots are not investments and do not generate yield. Don't contribute money you can't afford to lose access to until the pot closes.

11. Service availability

We aim for high uptime but don't guarantee uninterrupted service. We may need to take the platform offline for maintenance, security, or legal reasons. Pot timers continue to count down regardless.

12. Liability

Pot Together is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the platform fees you have paid us in the 12 months before the relevant event. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or third-party losses.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product and regulation evolve. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use after changes means you accept them.

14. Contact & disputes

Questions, complaints, or legal notices: hello@potluck.app. We'll try to resolve issues informally first. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
